All the points came during an 18-minute spell at the start of the second half at Kings Park Stadium, with Sharks fly-half Patrick Lambie outscoring Stormers full-back Joe Pietersen four penalties to two.
The match was a repeat of last year's semi-finals, which the Sharks, eventual runners-up, won 26-19.
The Sharks now boast two wins from two following their hard-fought triumph over the Cheetahs last time out, while the Cape Town-based Stormers have now suffered back-to-back losses to start this campaign after losing to the Bulls in their opening match.
The Stormers play their first home match in the next round, but it promises to be a tough one with reigning Super 15 champions the Chiefs - who have scored 86 points in winning their first two matches - the visitors to Newlands.
