Morne Steyn scored 25 points as defending Super 14 champions the Bulls thrashed the Central Cheetahs 60-20 in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
The fly-half scored a try, kicked a penalty and also landed seven conversions and a drop-goal as the Bulls ran in six second-half tries to end the competition on a high.
The Bulls have endured a difficult season and despite winning their last four matches of the campaign finished only 10th in the standings.
Meanwhile, rivals the Cheetahs won only one of their 13 games and only avoided the wooden spoon thanks to nine bonus points secured in a season that saw them lose six matches by five points or less.
Loose
The scoreline reflected the 11 tries scored in a loose match - a perhaps predictable outcome given that neither team had anything but local bragging rights to play for.
Cheetahs centre JW Jonker scored two unconverted tries in the first 20 minutes to put the hosts into a 10-3 lead.
The Bulls finally crossed the line in the 25th minute when winger Akona Ndungane went over in the corner after a superb pass from lock Bakkies Botha.
The Cheetahs ran in their third try almost from the restart through wing Jongi Nokwe before the Bulls slowly began to assume control.
They scored another try through number eight Pierre Spies before half time and moved into the lead courtesy of a 40-metre drop-goal from Steyn.
The Bulls then pulled further clear thanks to a Bryan Habana try two minutes into the second period before upping the pace yet further.
Prop Werner Kruger, Ndungane, Habana, Steyn and fullback Zane Kirchner added further tries.
