Treviso moved into the top half of the RaboDirect Pro 12 with a 20-10 triumph over struggling Scarlets at the Stadio Comunale di Monigo.
Tries from Ludovico Nitoglia and Brendan Williams helped the hosts come out on top, while Kris Burton landed both conversions and two penalties.
Scarlets did cross themselves through Liam Williams but his effort at the start of the second half wasn't enough to prevent his side slipping to a fourth straight defeat.
The visitors paid the price for having a man in the sin-bin, Rhys Thomas' absence allowing Treviso to take a firm grip on proceedings.
Changes
Scarlets made six changes to their starting line-up with Aled Thomas taking over at No.10 and Newton switching to full-back. Williams was handed another start on the wing and Richie Pugh came into the back row for the injured Josh Turnbull.
Despite the alterations the Welsh club trailed 10-3 at the break, Burton cancelling out Newton's 28th minute penalty with three points of his own before Nitoglia touched down just before the interval.
The scores were level after 42 minutes when Newton converted Williams' try, though the game turned in Treviso's favour when they had the man advantage.
Australian winger Williams clinched victory for the Italians by going over after 55 minutes, Burton adding the extras to finish with a personal haul of 10 points.
