Former Tigers star plays for Tonga again against Kiwis

Former Castleford captain Awen Guttenbeil will return to his roots when he represents Tonga again at the World Cup after a 15-year gap. The 32-year-old loose forward played for Tonga in the 1995 World Cup but then went on to play for New Zealand ten times between 2002-06. The former Castleford player has now reverted back to playing for the Tongans and will face the Kiwis in a warm-up fixture on Saturday. In his international swansong, Guttenbeil will hang up his boots after featuring in the World Cup for Tonga. The two sides meet in Auckland on Saturday in a crucial warm-up for the ten-team World Cup tournament that takes place in Australia. Guttenbeil spent the last two years with the Tigers and has some Super League colleagues alongside him in the Tongan line-up - with Wakefield hooker Tevita Leo-Latu and Hull second-rower Willie Manu in the squad. Tonga begin their World Cup campaign with a pool match against Ireland at Parramatta Stadium on October 27.
