The Stars came into the game with a 100 per cent record from four games, including wins over Nottingham and Sheffield last weekend.
But a hat-trick from Kevin Saurette, who had a four-point night, and two goals from Adam Keefe handed the defending Erhardt Conference champions the win.
Jerry Pollastrone scored two goals for Dundee with Billy Bagron also on the scoresheet and Rory Rawlyk recording a pair of assists.
