Wrexham v Macclesfield preview

Wrexham entertain Macclesfield desperate for a win to help preserve their fading League Two status.

Dragons faces injury crisis, Silkmen likely to be unchanged

Rock-bottom Wrexham entertain buoyant Macclesfield at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday desperate for a win to help preserve their fading League Two status. The Dragons suffered a devastating defeat on Tuesday, going down 2-1 away to second-from-bottom Mansfield. Survival now seems a hard task for the Welsh side, who are eight points from safety with seven games to play. Opponents Macclesfield were also struggling but have won four out of their last five games to pull seven points clear of the drop zone.

Dragons news

Boss Brian Little faces an injury crisis with midfielder Danny Sonner (Achilles) and striker Rob Duffy (foot) both doubtful, while midfielder Jeff Whitley is also unlikely to feature after sustaining a shoulder injury. Midfielder Danny Williams is still sidelined with a back injury, although Little should be able to call on defender Steve Evans after he came through 45 minutes for the reserves in midweek following a knee injury. Carl Tremarco is due to undergo a scan on his ankle in the coming weeks but is unlikely to appear again this season. Defender Neil Taylor could return from his foot injury before the end of the campaign, but is not in contention for this game.
Macc news
Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander will be reluctant to make changes to his in-form side. Alexander named an unchanged team when his men beat Accrington 2-1 at home last weekend to continue their rich run of form. Striker Martin Gritton has been struggling recently with hamstring problems but the Silkmen are otherwise in good health.
