Swindon keep up the pace in promotion race

Danny Wilson's Swindon leapt back into second in League One with a 3-0 win over struggling Tranmere. The result was never in doubt from the moment Rovers defender Ben Gordon put the ball into his own net after 10 minutes. Billy Paynter added a second for Swindon after 37 minutes with his 25th of the season and strike partner Charlie Austin made sure with the third after the break. Tranmere also had Terry Gornall sent off for stamping on Paynter in the incident which led to Paynter's penalty. They offered little in attack and home goalkeeper David Lucas did not have a serious save to make. Gordon put the ball into his own net attempting to clear a left-wing centre from Alan Sheehan. Gornall got his red card to concede a penalty which Paynter put away and only a great save from Luke Daniels denied Jonathan Douglas a third. But Swindon did not have to wait long for number three which came in the 56th minute when a long ball down the pitch from Jon-Paul McGovern was controlled and turned in by Austin for his 18th of the season.
