Leaders Brentford lucky to avoid Don Valley defeat
League Two leaders Brentford were fortunate to escape with a point as they drew 0-0 with Rotherham at the Don Valley Stadium on Saturday.
The Millers had the better of the chances throughout but were unable to find a way past Ben Hamer in the Brentford goal.
Mark Hudson tested Hamer early on and Drewe Broughton also went close on two occasions before Marcus Bean sliced a Hudson free-kick over his own bar.
Jordan Rhodes should have scored for Brentford after 26 minutes when a John Halls free-kick picked him out inside the box but he scuffed his shot and Andy Warrington saved.
Rotherham then had two more chances late in the half when Jamie Green's free-kick was saved by Hamer and Broughton flashed a header just over the bar from Hudson's free-kick.
The hosts continued to dominate possession after the interval, but they were restricted to just a couple of chances by Brentford's excellent defence.
Green saw a 62nd-minute free-kick drop on to the roof of the net and Jamie Clarke's 77th minute piledriver was well saved by Hamer.
