Paris St-Germain booked a place in the last 32 of the Uefa Cup with a 4-0 victory over Steve McClaren's FC Twente at Parc des Princes.
McClaren's men had already qualified but PSG needed to record a better result than Racing Santander, who played Manchester City in Thursday's second Group A game.
Santander soundly defeated City 3-1 at El Sardinero, but two PSG goals in the last six minutes allowed the French side to pip the Spaniards to third place in the group and a spot in the knockout stages.
Peguy Luyindula handed PSG the lead in the eighth minute and Stephane Sessegnon then doubled the advantage midway through the first half.
PSG emerged after the interval well aware that a two-goal advantage would not be enough to progress, with Santander matching the score at that time, and it showed as the home side continued to press.
Former Chelsea forward Mateja Kezman, who had earlier seen a penalty saved by Sander Boschker, added a third with six minutes remaining before Luyindula grabbed his second two minutes later.
