Oldham climb to fourth in League One

Oldham stretched their unbeaten run to three games thanks to a brace from Lee Hughes in a 3-2 win over Walsall. The home side had gone in front after 16 minutes with a huge slice of luck when Mark Allott's 20-yard shot took a massive deflection to give keeper Rene Gilmartin no chance. However former Oldham striker Michael Ricketts equalised in the 23rd minute with a header two yards out at the far post. The Latics were then hit again and this time top scorer Ricketts turned provider, picking out Alex Nicholls in the box for the 20-year-old to grab the second goal of his career after leaving Mark Crossley stranded. But Hughes came to the rescue six minutes before the break when he equalised with a volley from 12 yards. Time was running out when Hughes struck again in the 88th minute when he clipped home a Daniel Jones cross for his ninth goal of the season.
