Gills' torrid away form continues with 1-0 loss
Gillingham slipped into the relegation zone and remain without an away win all season following a 1-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Oldham at Boundary Park.
Lewis Guy snatched the only goal of a tense game in the 59th minute when he controlled Dale Stephens' through-ball before slotting into the corner from 10 yards.
Gillingham have taken only six points away from home this term, though they had chances to go in front before Guy's strike.
Andy Barcham fired straight at Latics goalkeeper Dean Brill and Rene Howe should have hit the target when he was allowed a free header eight yards out.
Chris Dickson also wasted an opening, but at the other end Gillingham's Alan Julian had to make a fine save from Stephens.
Oldham were comfortable after going ahead and Pawel Abbott twice went close to doubling their lead. Gillingham only threatened an equaliser in the 90th minute when Brill kept out a shot from Stuart Lewis.
