Super Eagles too strong for Congo
Nigeria got off to a winning start under Lars Lagerback after a 5-2 win over Congo DR.
Lagerback only joined Nigeria late last month after leaving Sweden following their failure to qualify for this summer's World Cup finals.
The Super Eagles broke the deadlock after just 11 minutes when Peter Utaka found the net and Osas Idehem doubled the lead on 28 minutes.
Chinedjn Ezimorah added a third just past the half hour mark to put the game beyond Congo.
Mbenza Bedi reduced the arrears just before the break, but Victor Obinna restored the three-goal cushion on 52 minutes.
Osas Idehem made it 5-1 on 65 minutes before Bedi notched his second of the night for a late consolation for Congo.
The win was the perfect boost for Nigeria ahead of their World Cup campaign against Argentina, Greece and South Korea in South Africa.
