England's women continued their stunning start to their World Cup qualification campaign with an 8-0 victory over Turkey at Fratton Park.

Having put six past Belarus at the weekend, Brent Hills' side made it 14 goals from their opening two games and the caretaker manager enhanced his case for becoming Hope Powell's permanent successor with another rout on Thursday night.

Toni Duggan bagged a hat-trick while Ellen White and Eniola Aluko both scored twice with Natasha Dowie completing the scoring.

England made two changes from the match at Dean Court with Siobhan Chamberlain starting in goal and Gemma Bonner making her debut in central defence.

But it was up front where the action was focused as Duggan scored two goals in the first two minutes to get England off to the perfect start.

There was a minute on the clock when White fed Alex Scott down the right and the full-back supplied a low cross for the unmarked Duggan to tap home her fourth England goal.

She had five less than a minute later as Aluko jinked into the box from the right and, while her cross took a deflection of a Turkish defender, Duggan was on hand to fire home a half-volley at the far post.

The visitors had not had a lot of possession but nearly got back into the game out of nothing as Leyla Gungor fired a shot from 25 yards which hit the bar.

It was 3-0, however, just before the half-hour as Fara Williams fed White who tried to go round Fatma Sahin and, when the goalkeeper went down, finished coolly.

Just three minutes later England had another when Karen Carney found Duggan whose low cross from the left was finished by Aluko.

England were running riot and Duggan soon outpaced both Turkish central defenders and produced a low finish to complete her hat-trick.

The sixth came six minutes before the break and White took her second of the night beautifully, getting on the end of a Carney cross with a diving header.

The second half was just three minutes old when England netted another, White the provider as her cross was headed home from close range by Aluko.

Turkey showed more defensive resolve after the break and limited England's chances but the hosts would not denied an eighth as Jordan Nobbs and Jill Scott combined to release Natasha Dowie who slotted low under the keeper.
