Portsmouth star Nadir Belhadj believes Algeria can take advantage of England's defensive frailties at the World Cup.
The 27-year-old defender is relishing playing in his first-ever World Cup with the Desert Foxes.
While the Algerians are 100/30 outsiders with
Sky Bet to progress out of Group C, Belhadj is confident they can.
He insists the Desert Foxes can beat England when the two sides clash in Cape Town on 18th June, having been given hope by the Three Lions' stuttering 2-1 friendly win over Japan recently.
Anything possible
Belhadj told
The Sun: "England are group favourites but anything is possible in football.
"We are as tough mentally and have the same power as them.
"On paper England are the best team but they have had some difficulties. We have seen gaps in their defence.
"We are strong, have good skills, especially in one-on-ones, and have great acceleration too.
Create history
"If we can take advantage of those gaps the way Japan did, maybe we could create history and go through the group stage."
Belhadj was one of three Algerians to be sent off during the African Cup of Nations in January but the Portsmouth ace insists there will be no repeat in South Africa.
He added: "We have a very hot temperament, that is how it is in Algeria.
"But we've learned from our mistakes."
