Lyon extend lead on top

Champions Lyon have extended their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table to four points after a 2-0 victory over Le Mans at the Stade Gerland. Le Mans could have moved third with victory, but Lyon were always in control after Karim Benzema put them ahead after 22 minutes. Lyon sealed the win just before the hour when Juninho Pernambucano fired home from the edge of the box. Rennes moved up to sixth after a 1-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Sochaux. The only goal of the game arrived just two-minutes in when Jimmy Briand fired home from the penalty spot after Bojan Jokic had brought down Moussa Sow. Monaco moved away from the relegation zone after they won a five-goal thriller at second from bottom Le Havre 3-2. The Principality raced into a two-goal lead at the interval as Leandro Cufre (20) and Alexandre Licata (40) fired home. Just after the break Loic Nestor (47) gave Le Havre some hope, but just moments later the visitors restored their two-goal advantage as Park Chu-young pounced. Alassane gave Le Havre some hope on the hour, but it was not enough as Monaco sealed the win.
