Hylton rejects loan exit

Rotherham boss Steve Evans has revealed striker Danny Hylton rejected a chance to move out on loan this week.

Hylton, a summer signing from Aldershot, has failed to make an impact at New York in the opening stages of the season and finds himself behind Alex Revell, new signing Tom Eaves, Matt Tubbs, Daniel Nardiello and Kieran Agard in the pecking order. He was handed the opportunity to move out this week, but with his partner heavily pregnant the 24-year-old has opted to stay put. "We offered him an opportunity in the week to go out loan, but his partner is due a baby and he wanted to be local as much as he can be," Evans said. "I totally understand that but in a week or so we will have a look again because he needs games at first-team level. "Hylts has been tremendous in the last month. We have got a stone off him and got him to the right weight, he has played well in the reserves and he is training well, but look at the competition. "Last season we were down to two strikers and nothing else, this season we have got some serious competition up front. We have Revell, Eaves, Nardiello, Tubbs, Agard and Hylton. "He is not in front of three or four of them as we stand and the only way he will be is if he keeps playing as well he has done and hope he gets his chance."
