Rowett open to Pickford return

Burton boss Gary Rowett has not ruled out a return to the Pirelli Stadium for Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Pickford is back at the Premier League club after suffering an injury in training ahead of Albion's Sky Bet League Two fixture at Fleetwood on Saturday. The teenager joined Burton on the eve of the new season and started the previous three matches for Rowett's side, including a Captial One Cup win at Sheffield United. The 19-year-old is undergoing treatment on a minor tear in his knee and Rowett has hinted that he could renew his interest in the highly-rated keeper when he regains fitness. "I've asked Sunderland to keep me in the loop with his progress," said Rowett. "He'll be out for a month or so. "It's not a serious injury, but he's a young keeper with fantastic potential and they want to make sure it doesn't get any worse." Burton have since signed Mats Morch from the Championship neighbours Derby on a one-month loan deal as cover for Dean Lyness, who has been elevated to Albion's first-choice goalkeeper following Pickford's injury.
