Doyle sees Bantams potential

Bradford midfielder Nathan Doyle believes the club would thrive in League One if they could secure promotion this season.

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson and his players insist promotion remains the main objective this season despite a realistic chance of becoming the first side from the fourth tier of English football to reach a major domestic cup final since Rochdale in the League Cup in 1962. Stunning victories over Wigan and Arsenal and Tuesday night's first-leg triumph over Aston Villa have catapulted the West Yorkshire club on to the national stage, and former Derby, Hull and Barnsley midfielder Doyle said: "Potentially this club is a really big one. "We see the fans coming out in force week-in, week-out, to home and away games so if we can get promoted this year, which is our main aim, hopefully we can go and kick on in League One. There's no reason why a club this size shouldn't. "But we've to go out and do it, knuckle down and work hard on the training pitch and hopefully crack on." Doyle does not believe the club's stunning success in the Capital One Cup will hinder their promotion chances. He added: "I think it's helped. Any competition that you're doing well in breeds confidence in the team and it can only be a good thing to have a winning mentality."
