Fleetwood boss Micky Mellon has labelled Scott Davies as one of the best young goalkeepers he has ever seen.
Mellon's praise for the 25-year-old comes after his shot-stopping heroics earned the Cod Army a draw at Bristol Rovers last Saturday. "I don't think I've seen many young keepers as good as Scott anywhere," Mellon told The Blackpool Gazette. "Scott works really hard and over the last season he has just got better and better." Davies, now in his third season at Highbury, has retained his number one status in the face of summer signing Chris Maxwell from Wrexham. Mellon added: "Goalkeepers always tell you they like competition because it takes them out of their comfort zone, and Scott knows that having a Wales Under-21 goalkeeper here has done the club no harm."
