Cook keeping feet on the ground

Accrington boss Paul Cook is not getting carried away after recording their second win with a 2-0 victory against Port Vale.

Padraig Amond scored a penalty in the 43rd minute against Vale before James Gray wrapped it up in injury-time, but it was back-to-the-wall defending for most of the second half for Stanley with Vale missing several gilt-edged chances. "It was a great game against a strong Port Vale side who threw everything at us in the second half," said Cook, who is beginning his first full season in charge. "They will go home ruing the chances they missed but luck is going our way at the moment. "We know it won't always and it's only early days but we are a young side and are gaining in confidence with every game. But we know in football it can change quickly, you can be quickly on the back foot so we won't get carried away. "All we can do is keep our heads down and keep giving 100 percent. It won't always go our way, there will be mistakes, but we stick by the lads when we win and we will when we lose."
