Doncaster assistant manager Brian Carey has wished James O'Connor well after the defender sealed a move to Derby.

O'Connor, who made more than 200 appearances for the South Yorkshire side, signed a two-year contract at Pride Park for an undisclosed fee. He became a firm fans' favourite at the Keepmoat after joining from Bournemouth in 2006, but has opted to remain in the Championship following Rovers' relegation. Carey said: "I'm glad for him, he's been in and out of the side while he's been here, but he's done his bit for Doncaster Rovers. He's been a great servant to the club. "He's got the opportunity to move on now and stay in the Championship so I'm delighted for him. He's a really good guy, he came in everyday with a fantastic attitude regardless of his own circumstances and did things properly like a proper professional would do."
