Stanley snap up trialist Gray

Accrington have signed James Gray on a one-year deal after the striker impressed during a trial with the club.

Gray has played a handful of games for the Reds in recent weeks, scoring a goal against Marine. The 20-year-old is looking forward to making his bow for the club, telling Stanley's official website: "I played a lot in the Conference last year but league games are like gold dust and everyone wants to play them. "I'm not expecting to be in the starting line-up straight away but hopefully I can push my way in and cement a place in the team." Gray, who came through the ranks at Middlesbrough before playing for Darlington and Kettering last season following his release by Boro, added: "I came down a week before the end of last season so I knew a few of the lads before I came in for pre-season, so that made it a bit easier but there were still 30 or 40 trialists who came in and were all trying to get the same thing. "When the gaffer tells you that you've impressed him and done enough that's really pleasing."
