Rotherham boss Steve Evans is expecting big things from Michael O'Connor now the midfielder is over his injury problems.

The 24-year-old joined the Millers this summer but has yet to feature during pre-season due to a groin injury. However, after three weeks of intensive fitness work the Northern Ireland international is ready to get some games under his belt. Evans believes that the former Scunthorpe player will be a big hit with the fans at the New York Stadium. "Michael is a top class player and our supporters will take to this lad in a very big way," he told the club's official website. "He is a real competitor and can certainly play. His passing is very assured and I know when he is on top of his game we will win matches. "The kid has worked so hard in the last three weeks that everyone inside Rotherham is willing him to do so well. He is now fitter than he has ever been and looking very sharp too."
