Yates blow for Valiants

Port Vale defender Adam Yates faces up to two months out with a serious knee injury.

Yates suffered the problem during the 1-1 draw at Bradford on Tuesday night and manager Micky Adams admits the 28-year-old's absence will probably force him into the transfer market. "Adam Yates has picked up a knee ligament injury and it looks like he will be out for six to eight weeks," Adams told the club's official website. "Defence is probably one of the positions where we are weak. Obviously Lee Collins is a major player in terms of the back four because he can play in all of the positions, but unfortunately he is not fit either. "We are going to have to speak to the powers that be and see what we can do in terms of maybe trying to get somebody in on loan for a month or two."
