Highly-rated midfielder signs three-year contract

Idrissa Gueye has signed a contract extension at Lille, committing himself to the club for another three years. The 22-year-old has become a key figure for the reigning Ligue 1 champions since forcing his way into the first-team set-up. He made the breakthrough onto that stage last season and has quickly become a regular in Rudi Garcia's starting XI. The Senegal star has made the defensive midfield role his own and is expected to earn senior international recognition in the not too distant future. For now, though, his focus is on events at Lille and he can rest easy in the knowledge that his long-term future is secure. The deal he has agreed will see him through to the summer of 2015.
