Oldham boss Paul Dickov could see his defensive ranks bolstered with positive injury reports from two Latics youngsters.
Central-defender James Tarkowski is to have an x-ray on a fractured toe he suffered in pre-season. If the results are positive, Tarkowski could be back in training and pushing for a first-team place within a fortnight. Meanwhile, a training ground injury involving Connor Hughes may not be as bad as first feared. It was thought Hughes may have suffered a broken leg after a tackle in training. However, after an x-ray club officials confirmed the youngster had suffered no break, and only minimal ligament damage.
