Simon Hackney has become Rochdale's third capture of the day following his release by Colchester.
The left winger, 27, has shaken hands on a one-year deal at Spotland on the same day as midfielder Andrew Tutte agreed a two-year move and skipper Gary Jones has penned a contract extension. Hackney spent the second half of last season on loan at Oxford before being allowed to leave the Weston Homes Community Stadium. "Everything felt right as soon as I met Steve and saw what was going on here at Spotland," Hackney told the club's official website. "It's a good move for me too in terms of location because I'm a Manchester lad and my family all live here. "Steve is very positive and ambitious to do well and so am I so I'm really happy to be on board."
