Former Feyenoord man agrees deal to end of the season

Vitesse Arnhem have signed versatile former Feyenoord defender Serginho Greene until the end of the season. The 27-year-old was a free agent after leaving De Kuip last summer and trial periods with Catania and Nice had proved unsuccessful. But, having trained with Vitesse over recent weeks, he has earned a contract after the struggling Eredivisie outfit secured financial backing for the deal. Greene told his new club's official website: "I am very happy with Vitesse. "Now I hope to play as soon as possible. I have been training, so I do not have to get used to my team-mates or the system and I am fit." Vitesse technical director Marc van Hintum added: "Serginho proved on the training pitch that he has what it takes to improve our team. "A sponsor stepped up who was willing to pay Greene's wages, offering us the possibility to sign him. "He can play as a right-back, centre-back and as a holding midfielder and adds to our options."
