Colombia ace suffers broken leg

Almeria will be without Colombia international Fabian Vargas for an extended period after he broke his leg while on international duty. The 29-year-old broke his fibula following a tackle from Pablo Palacios in Saturday's 2-0 weekend win over Ecuador in a World Cup qualifying clash. Vargas was stretchered from the field and now he will reportedly miss the next three months of action. Almeria's summer signing is expected to remain in Bogota for initial treatment before flying back to Spain to re-join his team-mates. "This injury will leave the player out of action for approximately three months," Dr Diego Velazquez told Marca. "He will most likely remain in Bogota for six weeks as there is a screw where the fibula joins the tibia that will have to be removed after six weeks."
