Milan sign Roma after releasing Kalac

AC Milan have signed keeper Flavio Roma from Monaco after releasing Zeljko Kalac by mutual consent. Roma, 35, who played nearly 250 games in eight years at Monaco, has signed a one-year deal with the Rossoneri. He replaces Kalac, 36, who has been at Milan since 2005 but made less than 60 appearances for the club. A statement on Milan's official website said: "AC Milan announce they have rescinded the contract of Zeljko Kalac by mutual consent. "In thanking him for how much he has given in the course of his time in the Rossoneri colours, Milan give Kalac their best wishes for the future. "AC Milan also announce they have bought on a permanent basis the sporting rights of Flavio Roma, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2010." Milan also have three other goalkeepers on their books - Christian Abbiati, Marco Storari and Nelson Dida.
