David Balleri has said he is angry to be one of five players accused of match-fixing and denies the allegation.
The ex-Livorno captain has been referred to the Italian Football Federation's disciplinary commission along with brothers Emanuele and Antonio Filippini, Alessandro Grandoni and Atalanta captain Gianpaolo Bellini - with Livorno and Atalanta facing investigation.
The games under suspicion are last season's Serie A clashes between Livorno and Atalanta - which ended in a 1-1 draw in December and then a 3-2 victory for Atalanta in May.
But Balleri, 39, who now plays for Serie C2 side Como, has released a statement through his lawyer claiming he is innocent.
"With the rigour and the determination of an honest person wrongly accused, I will face the hearing before the sporting justice bodies," it reads.
"I have never committed any disloyal or, worse still, illegal act in the 25 years of my career and I am deeply angered by these accusations."
These fresh allegations of match-fixing come two years after the scandal which saw Juventus stripped of the title and Serie A status with AC Milan, Fiorentina, Lazio and Reggina also punished.
