Midfielder will miss England clash

Russia midfielder Vladimir Bystrov has been ruled out of the Euro 2008 qualifier against England on 17th October. The 23-year-old suffered cruciate knee ligament damage during Spartak Moscow's 4-3 defeat at the hands of derby rivals Lokomotiv Moscow on Sunday. Bystrov is certain to be sidelined for at least the next four weeks and could be facing six months on the sidelines if further tests show he needs an operation to repair the damage. Guus Hiddink had Bystrov on the bench in the 3-0 defeat against England at Wembley on 12th September but introduced him into the action in the 39th minute in a bid to regain control of the game. But he will not be available for the return clash in Moscow and could also miss the final qualification games against Israel and Andorra in November. Hiddink's side slipped to third in Group E after their Wembley setback and are now two points behind Steve McClaren's side and five adrift of leaders Croatia.
