Foggia thrilled with sqaud place
Cagliari midfielder Pasquale Foggia has admitted he initially thought his first call-up to the Italian national team was a joke.
Foggia has been named in manager Roberto Donadoni's squad for the forthcoming European Championship 2008 qualifiers against France and Ukraine.
The 24-year-old has revealed his delight at his call, but he also admits he thought he was falling foul of a practical joke.
"The national team? I would never have bet on it," Foggia told the Italian press.
"I got a phone call from Luigi Riva [member of Italian coaching staff] and I thought it was a joke.
"He reassured me telling me I was one of the Azzurri's group. It is a dream and I want to dedicate it to Cagliari coach Marco Giampaolo."
