Shrews sunk despite taking lead
Hereford regained second place after coming from behind to beat Shrewsbury 3-1 at Edgar Street.
Keith Briggs marked his arrival from Stockport by putting the Shrews ahead in the 32nd minute with a deflected shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Hereford almost hit back immediately with skipper Ben Smith rifling the ball against the foot of the post.
Three minutes before the break Trevor Benjamin levelled from the penalty spot when he sent goalkeeper Glyn Garner the wrong way after Theo Robinson had been upended by Mark Tierney.
After the break, play continued to sweep from end to end but it was Hereford who took the lead when Dean Beckwith headed home.
Shortly afterwards Simon Johnson sealed the win with a stunning low shot from the edge of the penalty area into the far corner of the Shrewsbury net.
