Heerenveen made a flying start as they raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to a brace from Danijel Pranjic.
Pranjic, who played for Croatia in their 4-1 loss to England in midweek, broke the deadlock after five minutes and added a second seven minutes later.
Jan Wuytens pulled one back for Heracles on the stroke of half-time and Das Bost grabbed the equaliser after 6 minute.
