Walsall bounced back from successive cup defeats with a 2-0 victory at League One rivals Colchester.
Goals in either half from Dwayne Mattis and Michael Ricketts gave the Saddlers a well-earned victory and condemned Colchester to their sixth home defeat of the season.
Mattis fired home from 15 yards in the 16th minute and former England man Ricketts headed in Chris Palmer's corner to score his eighth goal of the season in the 62nd minute.
Walsall move up into 10th on the back of the success while Colchester remain in trouble towards the foot of the table.
