A goalkeeping blunder from Joe Anyon proved costly for play-off chasing Port Vale as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.
The visitors took an eighth-minute lead when John McCombe glanced home a superbly-flighted cross from skipper Tommy Fraser.
But the Robins levelled after 39 minutes, Medy Elito finishing from a yard after Anyon had spilled Michael Pook's right-wing cross.
Vale had gone close to doubling their lead in the 13th minute when the powerful figure of Craig Davies shrugged off Shane Duff before firing in a shot that deflected narrowly wide off the defender's outstretched leg.
Cheltenham's Matt Thornhill then rattled the crossbar with a 25-yard volley before Vale also struck the bar and post through Lewis Haldane and Marc Richards, with Scott Brown throwing himself at Craig Davies to prevent the striker finally firing the ball home.
Late drama saw Thornhill denied at point-blank range by Anyon while Elito fired an angled shot just inches wide.
