Tyrone Barnett and Michael Doughty netted as Crawley kicked off another potential FA Cup run with a 2-0 first-round win at Bury.

Steve Evans' side reached last year's fifth round before being knocked out by Manchester United and sealed another cup win through Barnett and Doughty. Barnett had been unfortunate not to give his side an early lead when he headed wide from Dean Howell's cross. Peter Sweeney saw his 20-yard effort tipped round the post by Scott Shearer, while Matt Tubbs drew a smart save from Cameron Belford at the opposite end. Crawley's breakthrough finally came four minutes after the break, Barnett heading emphatically home from Andy Drury's corner. That sparked Bury into action and Andy Bishop unbelievably missed from point-blank range at the end of a goalmouth scramble, Shearer somehow getting in the way. David Amoo was also denied by Shearer before Crawley wrapped up the win, Doughty slamming past Belford from Josh Simpson's cut-back. To compound Bury's woes, Mark Hughes received a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Doughty.
