Pitman hits the goaltrail again as Bournemouth fight for safety
Brett Pitman scored his fifth goal in as many games as Bournemouth recorded a 1-0 victory over Accrington to give them renewed hope in their battle for League Two safety.
Pitman struck with a volley in the 86th minute soon after Accrington had missed a penalty.
Pitman's goal came after he had been picked out on the edge of the six-yard box with a centre from the right by on-loan Jake Thomson.
Accrington looked as if they might steal the points when Peter Cavanagh was brought down on the edge of the area in the 79th minute.
But Andy Procter blazed his spot-kick high over the bar to reprieve Bournemouth and full-back Rhoys Wiggins who had committed the foul.
