Bordeaux began their Europa League Group D campaign with a dominant win over Club Brugge which lifted them to the top of the standings. Ludovic Sane and Yoan Gouffran gave Les Girondins a first-half lead before substitute Bjorn Engels added an own goal early in the second half. Jussie then rounded off the scoring in the one-sided contest at Stade Chaban Delmas. Brugge were served an early warning by their hosts when Jaroslav Plasil's third-minute strike was fumbled by goalkeeper Bojan Jorgacevic. Cheick Diabate then warmed the palms of Jorgacevic six minutes later with a right-footed drive from 12 yards. It was all one-way traffic in the early stages and Jorgacevic made another save - this time with his feet - to keep out a close-range effort from Gouffran. However, Bordeaux had better luck from the resulting corner. Plasil provided the delivery which Sane was able to poke home to give Les Girondins the lead after 13 minutes. The goal failed to sting Brugge into action and Henri Saivet gave their defence further problems with a cross for Diabate but the midfielder was wasteful once more with his effort, heading wide of the mark. Diabate had a hand in Bordeaux's second goal after 27 minutes, however, playing in Gouffran with a nicely weighted pass which the striker swept home from a few yards. Half-time failed to bring any respite for the Belgian visitors, who were three goals down within two minutes of the restart. Engels was brought off the bench at the start of the second half in a bid to shore up Brugge's leaky defence, but his first touch of the ball saw him turning a Benoit Tremoulinas' cross into his own net. Saivet then hit a stunning shot from 25 yards which brought an equally impressive save from Jorgacevic as Bordeaux came close to adding another goal within seconds. However, a fourth arrived after 66 minutes thanks to Jussie, who provided the finish to a cross into the area from Mariano. Jorgacevic was kept busy until the final whistle although he managed to prevent any more goals with saves from substitutes Gregory Sertic and Florian Marange. Brugge's only real chance of the match came in stoppage time and it summed up their evening as sub Maxime Lestienne's free-kick came back off the post.
