Hull City moved into the Championship automatic promotion places as they claimed a 3-1 success against Barnsley at Oakwell.
Goals from Dean Marney, Ian Ashbee and Dean Windass secured The Tigers' victory as Phil Brown's men rose to second, while Barnsley remain four points above the drop zone.
Hull went close in the first minute when Lewin Nytanga's backpass had calamity written over it as his header wrong-footed goalkeeper Luke Steele; but Steve Foster saved his team-mates' blushes, clearing off the line.
On five minutes, it was Barnsley's turn to threaten with Jon Macken working himself into space before bending an effort just past Boaz Myhill's left-hand post.

After a lull in the action, Hull took the lead on 23 minutes as Marney powered home from the penalty spot after Dennis Souza had needlessly lunged in on Fraizer Campbell.
Barnsley rallied to find an immediate response, but Macken's vicious effort was comfortably gathered by Myhill before a goalmouth scramble saw Michael Turner scrape clear off the line.
Seven minutes into second period Hull doubled their advantage as captain Ashbee met Marney's corner with a thumping header to leave Steele with not a prayer.
Campbell then drew a fine save from Steele as he demonstrated excellent balance to fire a left-footed strike goalwards.

The Tigers continued to threaten, with Craig Fagan's bursting run brought to a halt by Foster and then Campbell going close from Marney's corner.
Barnsley almost reduced the deficit in the 76th minute as Hull failed to deal with a long ball and Daniel Nardiello flashed wide.
Hull put the result beyond doubt on 83 minutes as substitute Dean Windass latched onto Campbell's clever flick to drill home with his first touch.
The home side did get themselves on the scoresheet in injury time when Istvan Ferenczi headed home from Michael Coulson's cross; but it was too little, too late from Simon Davey's men.
